LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Four Torero batters recorded three or more hits as the ninth-ranked University of San Diego baseball team (7-1) racked up a season-high 19 hits in a 17-6 win against the 30th-ranked Jayhawks of the University of Kansas (6-4) Saturday afternoon at the USC Public Storage Classic.

Offensively for the Toreros Shane Buschini led the way going 4-for-5 with five RBI, one double and one homerun, Jordan Abruzzo went 3-for-4 with five RBI two doubles and one home run, Justin Snyder went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one double and Steve Singleton ran his hit steak to eight games going 3-for-6 with one RBI and one homerun.

The Toreros big inning came in the sixth, when they put up six runs on seven hits, all with two outs. USD started the scoring on a Keoni Ruth single up the middle bringing in Ryan Lilly, who had singled. Snyder then moved Ruth to second on a single, and both runners advanced one base on a pass ball by the KU catcher. Buschini then hit a two-run single to left-center giving the Toreros a 9-4 lead. After a Josh Romanski single, Abruzzo launched a two-run double deep into right field for the third and fourth runs of the inning. USD would cap their scoring on a Ryan Lilly single to left-center scoring Abruzzo giving USD a 13-4 advantage.

With the Toreros leading 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, Kansas took back four runs on three hits on a Dylan Parzyk two-run double, a Matt Baty run scoring triple and on a RBI single by Ritchie Price, giving the Toreros a brief scare.

USD responded in the fifth inning scoring two runs on Romanski ground out to first base and a RBI double by Abruzzo giving USD a three run cushion.

USD also score two runs in second, third, seventh and ninth innings and one run in the third inning to round out the scoring for the day.

Matt Couch (2-0) picks up the win for the Toreros allowing two runs on two hits in 5.2 innings of work. Ricky Fairchild (2-1) was saddled with the loss for the Jayhawks as he allowed seven runs, five earned, on five hits in 4.1 innings of work.

The Toreros will return to action on Sunday as they closeout play in the USC Public Storage Classic in a 4 p.m. game against the 25th-ranked and host Trojans of the University of Southern California.
